The short answer is

A wiping roller is particularly suitable for hard floors and frequent mopping. Rotary mops are more versatile and often easier to change. For predominantly carpet, consistent mop or roller protection is more important than the system itself.

wiper roller

The roller rotates while driving. Depending on the model, it is constantly moistened and wiped off. This means that the contact surface remains more controlled, while at the same time creating additional water routes and care points.

Rotating mops

Two pads rotate on the floor and can be raised, extended or docked on many models. Pads are easy to change, but can carry dirt for longer without intermediate washing.

carpet and floor mix

Check mop lift, cover or storage function. A small stroke will not safely protect a high carpet. For heavily mixed floors, consistent separation of vacuuming and wiping can make sense.

Maintenance and follow-up costs

Compare replacement rollers or pads, filters, wipers and approved cleaners. Clean the dirty water tank and wash bowl regularly, regardless of the mopping system.
